The Northumberland Heath Community Forum

About Us

                                                               Welcome to the about us page

So why a community forum?

There is much to appreciate from living on Northumberland Heath, but most people who live on the 'Heath are aware that there are problems which never get resolved. The number of the young people that aimlessly drifting around the 'heath is growing, as is the damage and intimidation caused by the very few who are out of control.

There is a feeling that Northumberland Heath is being ignored, while other areas of the borough benefit. The reality is that unless and until we function as a community again, no amount of "outside" help is going to make a permanent difference. When the community works together, with the police and others, they are enabled to deal effectively with long standing problems and improve the area to make it an enjoyable place to live and work. Iindividuals trying to make positive changes find it difficult or impossible to get their voice heard;
The forum gives an opportunity for everyone to work together to make Northumberland Heath the place we want to live and work in, to enable effective representation in dealing with official bodies and gaining funding that benefits the community. The Forum has been set up to provide a positive focus for the community its aims are:- to foster a community spirit

To increase the involvement of the local community, its organisations and businesses in the life of Northumberland Heath.To give a voice to the community in its dealings with "officialdom" , to help allocate funds from the local council and other sources to local community groups and projects.

Its objectives are:- To foster good community spirit in Northumberland heath with good relations between all sections of the local community to also help build good relations between the local community.

Bexley Council and other agencies planning and providing services for the area to act as a channel of communication both within the local community and between the community and all relevant agencies, to enable the local community to become more involved in decisions on local issues
